Is taking the title away from this Jackie Robinson West team fair?
The Jackie Robinson West team accomplished things that people thought would never happen and things that we all didn't know still needed to be accomplished just to have it taken away from them.
With months of coaching, preparation and listening, this Jackie Robinson West team did what they dreamed of doing and won the Little League World Series. They are the first African-American team to do so. It seems like one person out there didn't want to believe that an all black team could win a Little League World Series fair and square without somehow bending the rules. It turns out that person was right but only to a certain extent.
In the past there have been all white teams, Asian teams and Mexican teams that have the Little League World Series and I don't think that anybody decided to check if they had players outside the recruiting district, So why with this team? It took 6 months for this person to investigate what happened and just like that we found out that the Jackie Robinson West team had a player on their team that lived outside the neighborhood and district in Illinois where they can recruit players to build a team.
The name Jackie Robinson is more than a name to this country and to disgrace the name the way the coaches did is disgraceful. Removing the coaches from the team that did this unjust thing is the right thing to do and I think they shouldn't be involved in coaching activities again. I know that rules are rules but its not fair to take the title away from 11 & 12 year old's who knew nothing about these rules and regulations and just played the game. It the coaches and parents fault not the players, kids at that age are innocent and they do what they are trained to do which is to listen to their parents and coaches.
